[RAMBLERS] Meeting Minutes, 6/29/2011 SUM

Number of Attendees: 4

GENERAL INFORMATION:

· Ramblers Meetings are held every Wednesday at 5:00 PM in Forbes 307. Summer meetings usually take place in the Forbes Lobby, however as it currently stands, the club is in search of an emergency meeting place due to temporary, unforeseen circumstances. This week the club met by the fountain west of Old Main. Stay tuned for announcement of a semi-permanent meeting location.

· Unless otherwise specified, all hikes depart from the low wall by the church on 4th Street and Tyndall Avenue.

PAST HIKES:

· Steve went to the Galliero Mountains with a friend, though this hike wasn't posted to the Listserv. He wanted to check out the BLM land out there, and had to get state passes, which run around $15 apiece. It was worth it though, as he reports beautiful 360 degree views, colorful rocks, and, apparently, side canyons with interesting obstacles. He says that there are definite possibilities for future Ramblers hikes out there, and him and Joe discussed different routes to get out there. In conclusion, Steve waxed eloquent about the sycamores and cottonwoods in spring. Keep your eyes and ears peeled in case he does in fact set something up out this direction.

FUTURE HIKES:
· Steve's Salt River floating trip is on, this Saturday. Better hurry up and RSVP if you haven't already, it may be too late. Steve also mentioned that he's been looking into future Gila River floating opportunities, especially through Needle Eye, which he says "looks cool from maps". He reckons that would be a pretty long float, maybe ten or twelve miles.
· Joe's Fourth of July event may be off, he says it was just a thought and it looks like interest has fizzled.

CLUB BUSINESS:
· Please note that the club meeting next week has been cancelled due to the holiday and general consensus.

Meeting adjourned at 5:28.

Until next week,
