[RAMBLERS] Meeting Minutes, 6/22/2011 SUM

Number of Attendees: Between 8 and 10, depending on when I, unfortunately, stopped counting.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

· Ramblers Meetings are held every Wednesday at 5:00 PM in Forbes 307. Summer meetings usually take place in the Forbes Lobby, however as it currently stands, the club is in search of an emergency meeting place due to temporary, unforeseen circumstances. This week the club met by the fountain west of Old Main. Stay tuned for announcement of a semi-permanent meeting location.

· Unless otherwise specified, all hikes depart from the low wall by the church on 4th Street and Tyndall Avenue.

PAST HIKES:

· Drew went out to the Tucson Mountains, and saw a baby Nighthawk.

· All club officers named Ben went on a trip out to New Mexico, though this trip wasn't posted to the Listserv. They went up to North Chuchas Peak, along the Santa Barbara River, though I'm having a little trouble deciphering my handwriting here. Their plans were to go on an extended backpacking trip up Rio Chuna (or something like that), but they got lost and ended up at Chaco Canyon. They had a great time though, reporting lots of beautiful alpine meadows and water. It also happened to be the summer solstice, so there were a lot of people in celebration, including, as Smith put it, lots of hippies.

FUTURE HIKES:
· Drew is considering doing a Kartchner Caverns trip at some point. It would be a guided tour trip, though he's afraid entry fee may be prohibitive. There was some debate as to whether there's been any wildfire interference with the caverns being open and available.
· Joe wants to do a wildfire aftermath tour, though it would entail a lot of driving. Details are, presumably, forthcoming.

CLUB BUSINESS:
· No club business.

Meeting adjourned.

Until next week,
Nik, Club Secretary
