GENERAL INFORMATION:
· Ramblers Meetings are held every Wednesday at 5:00 PM in Forbes 307.
· Unless otherwise specified, all hikes depart from the low wall by the church on 4th Street and Tyndall Avenue.
PAST HIKES:
· This week's meeting was more or less devoted to showing photographs from past hikes that may have gotten missed or passed over at earlier meetings. First, Steve showed some from his Dragoons trip. Him and his bunch of ramblers went out canyoneering a while back in Park Canyon, and though they say they encountered some ice up there, it looks to have been a real beautiful excursion. Apparently they also met up with some "lost army guys" and had to point them towards the trail, which was a good mile away.
· Drew showed some photos from Slavin Gulch and Breakfast Canyon, assuming you all remember back when those trips actually happened. In Slavin Gulch there were purportedly a large amount of rocks balanced on other rocks. Roxana reports that some rocks they found on the way turned out to be magnetite. That's a lot of rocks.
· Then, back to Steve, with a collection of Molino Canyon pictures with crazy, saturated colors. Sounds like it was cold.
FUTURE HIKES:
· Another reminder that Steve's spring break backpacking trip up to the Blue River area is imminent. Check out his Listserv posting for more information, last I heard there was still room for interested parties.
· Steve might lead a hike this weekend out to Hutch's Pool or maybe someplace up in the Rincons. His goal is essentially to take advantage of the weather and head to water.
CLUB BUSINESS:
· Will brought in some welcome website news. Looks like the new address for the site is ramblers.clubs.arizona.edu. I won't pretend to know much about this sort of thing, but what I gathered was that it's back on a permanent server, and is on the whole a little more official, though we do have less storage space. Will plans on working in an addition to the site that will allow people to post photos and reports from their hikes.
· Joe had some sort of "keep solar arrays out of proposed wilderness areas" event after the meeting. I reckon we'll hear what went down at this next week's meeting.
